Later, explore the magnificent Tashichhodzong, an imposing fortress monastery that houses government offices and the King's throne room. Additionally, it serves as the summer residence of the Chief Abbot and the central monk body.

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Punakha from Thimphu via the Dochula Pass sightseeing. As you traverse the winding mountain roads, be prepared to be awe-struck by the breathtaking vistas that unfold before you. Your first stop will be Dochula Pass, a high mountain pass adorned with 108 Chortens, offering panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks on clear days. Take a moment to soak in the serenity of this picturesque location, surrounded by fluttering prayer flags and serene mountain landscapes. 

Upon reaching Punakha, check in to your hotel. Get ready to explore the historic Punakha Dzong, situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Explore the intricate architecture and serene courtyards of this ancient fortress, which holds great significance in Bhutanese history and culture.

After breakfast, your journey from Punakha to Paro begins, offering you the chance to immerse yourself in Bhutan's cultural and natural wonders. Before departing Punakha, take a moment to admire the tranquil beauty of the Punakha Valley, with its lush greenery and serene rivers.

Later, drive to Paro, where you'll check into your hotel upon arrival. You’ll have the rest of the day at leisure. Explore the city or relax at your hotel. Enjoy the day to the fullest.Retreat to your hotel in Paro for a restful night, reflecting on the day's enriching experiences. 

Insight - The journey from Thimphu to Paro spans approximately 115 km and takes around 3 to 3.5 hours. 

After breakfast, start an excursion to Taktsang Monastery or Tiger’s Nest. This iconic monastery is one of Bhutan’s most renowned landmarks, perched on the side of a cliff, 900 meters above the Paro Valley. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is called ‘Tiger’s Nest’. This site has been recognised as a most sacred place and was visited by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646 and is now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime. Though a fire severely damaged the main structure in 1998, it has since been restored to its original glory.

Afternoon drive to Drukgyel Dzong, a ruined fortress where Bhutanese warriors fought Tibetan invaders centuries ago. The approach road to the Dzong provides a spectacular view of sacred Chomolhari, the mountain of goddesses.

Your day concludes with a visit to the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples established in the Himalayas by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. It marked the introduction of Buddhism to Bhutan.
