Though it may sound like a scene from a horror movie, this is actually what happens at Tower of Silence (or Dakhma) in Mumbai. The Tower of Silence is one of Iran’s architectural treasures. 

Built by Seth Moti Hirji in 1672, the Tower of Silence is a circular, raised structure where the Zoroastrians placed their dead. There are no steps or stairs to reach it, and the corpses were taken up by the other people present there and left for vultures to feed upon. The bones, which remained after the animals had eaten all flesh from the bodies, were dissolved in an acid bath in the lower part of the building. It can be seen from most areas of the city, especially during sunrise and sunset when the sun casts its rays on it.
